Weeding Tools

Gardening needs special attention. There are lots of things that need to be taken care of while having your own garden. Weeds are one of the common problems that need special attention. Weed is a type of plant that can create harm to the other plants and also animals because of its harmful “chemical and physical methods”. Therefore, the growth of the weeds in the garden is to be restricted for proper growth of other plants. Hence, weeding is done on a regular basis, which removes and also restricts the weeds from reaching the mature state.

Weeds need to be kept in control to make your garden flourish. Therefore there are many measures that are used to achieve this purpose. There are different types of chemical and physical methods used to remove the weeds. Weeding is commonly done everywhere to avoid the growth of weeds and to remove them. There are different kinds of weeding tools available in the market. The different types of weeding tools that are commonly used are ‘swoe cultivator’, push-pull weeder, harpoon style weed extractor, gripping weed puller, weed killer applicator, patio weeders, flame gum weeders.

The swoe cultivator looks like a mixture of a hoe and a golf club, which is widely used weeding and is very durable. Push pull weeder is similar to a “Dutch hoe”. The push pull weeder is very effective in removing the unwanted weeds when used in a ‘reverse movement’. Push-pull weeder is very useful for people who are working with one arm or have any back problems. The harpoon style weed extractor is generally used vertically by pushing it deep down into the ground and then the weeds are removed by twisting the tool. The harpoon style weed extractor is very convenient to use and is also light in weight.

The gripping weedpuller as the name suggests has a griping device attached to a handle that pulls out the weeds. The weed killer applicator is used to “administer a chemical solution”, with the use of a sponge pad to kill the weeds. Patio weeder is like a knife used to remove weeds from smaller gaps like that within the paving slabs.

Tools for Digging the Garden

The different tools required to dig the garden are:

* Garden Spades- this sturdy tool is used for the digging purpose in the garden. It has a thick handle and a blade that has a flat square point. This blade has to be pressed in the ground using your feet. Some garden spades also have a roller shoulder on the blade that is a very easy to use in hard or heavy soil.

* Garden Fork- it is equipment with many prongs made of either iron or steel. The long metal shaft on the blade allows leverage while digging deep down for removing a rock from the ground. The handle has a D-shape that offers better control and maximum comfort.

* Garden Shovel- a gardening implement having a broad blade and a handle that are used digging as well as moving the materials like dirt, foliage or snow. This is a mechanical tool that is particularly use for the sake of excavation or heavy digging.

* Garden Trowel- this equipment consists of a flat blade for spreading and leveling the surface after digging. The pointed blades of the garden trowel also make them useful for digging activities.

* Round-Point Shovel- this is the best implement for a number of gardening tasks. The round-point shovel is used to break the hard ground. This is so as the entire force is centered on a single point. They are used for different purposes like digging, scooping or shoveling dirt from one place to another.

* Transplanting Spade- they have a long and a narrow head that makes it excellent for digging. It is also used to move the perennials as well as the shrubs without disturbing the surrounding plants.

* Cultivator- cultivators are basically used for digging deep down for the removal of tap roots of the perennial weeds without causing any disturbance to the roots of the adjoining plants. They are also useful for settling the weeds.

* Weeder- it is a wide screw driver that has a notch at the end. This long and the narrow design lets you dig down the sides of the dandelions and many other such weeds of the tap roots.
